After several false starts, the settlement that would be Melbourne grew rapidly. In this presentation Margaret Anderson examines the expansion of Melbourne in the pre-goldrush period and considers the nature of the city it became in 1847.
Margaret Anderson is currently Director of the Old Treasury Building, after a long career as a museum director and public historian.
