Speaker: Dr Rosalie Triolo OAM FRHSV

Topic: Local and international historical sources and resources you might not have used in local/family research

More of a practical workshop, Rosalie’s presentation seeks to build on participants’ existing thinking about peoples, places, perspectives and topics relevant to their preferred research and writing. The presentation will include a strong visual and audio set of ‘prompts’ to develop participants’ consideration of ‘wider contexts’; it will affirm and encourage sharing of the historical sources and resources that participants likely already use; and, it will conclude by recommending less commonly considered and valuable Victorian, Australian and international history ‘providers’. Participants will depart with fresh ways forward for research, writing and non-traditional forms of presenting family, local and wider Australian histories.

Rosalie is a RHSV Councillor, former vice-president, chair of its membership development and historical societies support committees and one of two Victorian delegates to the Federation of Australian Historical Societies. She has enjoyed over 40 years in History education, including multiple, long-term, volunteer Victorian and national leadership, presentation and advocacy roles; teaching Australian history in diverse Victorian rural and city government schools; publishing for general public, as well as tertiary, secondary and primary education audiences; and, facilitating the development of specialist teachers of History for 25 years at Monash University.
